About The Position

The Quality Leader - Rome leads all aspects of the Rome plant quality assurance department including quality personnel, Quality Management System, Food Safety certification, and Customer audits when required. Assist in operator training certification and quality testing procedures. Drive improvements in quality testing procedures to reduce the frequency of plant accountable customer complaints as well as internal rejections in order to reduce waste. Foster an environment that is prioritized in the order of Safety, Quality, and Production. In the event of absence, these job responsibilities will be covered by employees in the “Plant Manager” or “Quality Technician” positions. Requirements

Self-starter, highly motivated, follows directions well and can work with little or no supervision.
Possess good math skills, able to read a tape measure and micrometer accurately.
Four-year college degree, preferably in a Quality related field, Engineering or Chemistry. Computer literate with good organizational skills.
3+ years’ experience in manufacturing, preferably in the flexible packaging and/or food manufacturing industry.
Detail-orientation required for auditing completion of required paperwork and information system’s inputs with a high degree of accuracy.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Previous experience with SQF highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of the Quality Assurance department at the manufacturing facility.
Designated SQF practitioner with responsibility and authority to oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the QMS, including food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan, to take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the QMS, communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvement of the SQF system.
Promotes, devises, establishes and/or improves where needed, the company’s quality procedures, standards and specifications.
Manages key metrics to evaluate the performance of the Quality Department such as Cost of Quality (COQ), internal rejections, quality testing turnaround time, etc.
Manages the Corrective Action Response (CAR) process, trending CAR data to initiate process improvements.
Interacts with our customers to ensure we are solving customer complaints in a timely manner.
Leads customer quality audits and performs root cause analysis for non-conformances generated from audits.
Respond to customer requests related to products and manufacturing environment in a timely manner (i.e. customer inquiries, product questionnaires, specifications, plant quality information, special requirements).
Enter Customer Returns, Internal Rejections, rework and other quality data into ERP system as required.
Is responsible for all Quality Associate aspects in terms of safety, annual reviews, staffing, hiring and potential terminations.
Trains, guides and assists Quality Associates in the successful execution of their roles. Coordinates training of new Quality Associates by assigning a qualified trainer, and monitoring the timely completion and documentation of the training program.
Assists in the development of personnel, operator training certification and quality testing procedures.
Act as a backup for direct reports, when required, for critical activities required to serve the customers of PPC.
Ensures that all responsibilities and functions performed are in accordance with quality standards in place and that they meet the customer’s requirements. Participate in quality programs and be aware of changes and standards within the systems.
Generates improvement ideas and embraces improvement projects to better the business.
Is responsible for the department budget, annual budgeting process within quality department and the actual budget spend on a monthly basis.
Perform other duties which may be assigned as part of the essential functions of the position.
