About The Position

The QA Automation Analyst</b> will serve the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in a quality assurance capacity, supporting software development and release activities across development, test, and user acceptance testing (UAT) environments. The role is responsible for the development and maintenance of both manual and automated test scripts, ensuring that software releases meet defined business and quality requirements. The analyst will investigate and diagnose quality complaints, track components, and recommend corrective actions based on verified data. Working within an Agile/Scrum framework, the analyst collaborates closely with development teams, business stakeholders, and project leadership to deliver timely, high -quality software solutions.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience writing and executing test cases and creating test plans.
  • 8 years of knowledge of software usability concepts, requirements traceability, and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process.
  • 8 years of experience with the Xray Test Case management tool.
  • 8 years of experience writing SQL queries to perform CRUD operations.
  • 8 years of proficiency utilizing CI/CD pipelines to enhance software development testing processes.
  • 8 years of experience conducting API testing using Postman, SOAPUI, JMeter, or similar tools.
  • 8 years of experience writing and executing test automation using UFT (Unified Functional Testing).
  • Knowledge and experience working within a Scrum team in an Agile environment to deliver software release sprints on time with a focus on quality.
  • Proficiency in defect tracking and management using Jira and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a sprint development team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across varied levels of staff and end users.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and accurately estimate changes or enhancements.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Object -Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
  • Prior experience working with the State of Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) agency and related systems.
  • Experience creating and reviewing performance testing scripts and analyzing test results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test scripts, including test plans and test cases aligned with business requirements.
  • Investigate and diagnose quality complaints, track down components, and recommend corrective actions based on verified logs, databases, and related data.
  • Prepare UAT test cases, conduct stakeholder walkthroughs to ensure clarity, and coordinate UAT schedules while communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Participate in test readiness reviews and provide go/no -go recommendations based on test execution outcomes.
  • Log, categorize, and prioritize defects using Jira, maintaining a clear and organized record of issues throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices to ensure alignment between business requirements and test coverage.
  • Perform API testing using tools such as Postman, SOAPUI, or JMeter, and execute various testing types including unit, integration, regression, smoke, system, stress, and performance testing.
  • Write and execute SQL queries to perform CRUD operations in support of data verification and quality tracking activities.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines and code coverage tools to enhance and monitor software development testing processes.
  • Support the development team across dev, test, and UAT environments, troubleshoot defects as required, and accurately track time spent on projects and estimate changes or enhancements.
