About The Position

A Q&R New Technology/Product Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that new technologies and products being introduced to Samsung Austin Semiconductor meet all quality and reliability requirements prior to starting volume mass production. This position bridges technology development, process integration, process engineering, sales, customer, and manufacturing teams during the transition from process/product development to volume production in a highly complex semiconductor industry environment to deliver products on time to our customers that exceed their requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Mathematics or related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor processes device physics, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies: SPC, FMEA, DOE, 8D problem-solving, and statistical analysis.
  • Understanding of industry standards and customer requirements in semiconductors (e.g., automotive, consumer, data center).
  • Working knowledge of process integration, yield and/or various fab processes (i.e., thin films deposition, lithography, etch, diffusion etc.).
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software required.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor quality management system.

Responsibilities

  • Lead successful first-pass qualifications for new products and technologies (NPI/NTI) by conducting rigorous risk analysis and ensuring 100% adherence to quality standards across all development phases.
  • Drive seamless transition from NPI to mass production (MP) by validating process stability and delivering Fab qualification reports that certify production readiness.
  • Establish product/tool qualification frameworks and chair review board meetings to provide technical direction and final decision-making on qualification status.
  • Communicate with HQ and local sales, customer, manufacturing teams regarding upcoming production plans to ensure quality checks are completed without to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
  • Plan and lead early production activities designed to ensure safe launch of products that require additional quality standards
  • Serve as the Q&R representative in TTTM (tool to tool matching) business process activities to lead or contribute to risk assessments, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and root cause corrective action (RCCA/8D) for issues identified during development, qualification, and early production.
