About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Part-Time Peripheral Vascular Lab (PVL) Technologist to join our high-volume vascular imaging team! This role offers 2–3 days per week, Monday–Friday, between 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with one required shift at the UPMC Shadyside campus in addition to on-call responsibilities. Position Overview The PVL Technologist performs noninvasive peripheral vascular studies, including but not limited to: Arterial and venous duplex imaging with color flow Doppler Noninvasive arterial testing (pulse volume recordings, segmental limb pressures) Visceral abdominal duplex imaging with color flow Doppler Extracranial duplex imaging with color flow Doppler Other noninvasive vascular tests as assigned Competency in all studies offered in the Peripheral Vascular Lab must be achieved within 6 months to 1 year of the start date. Patient testing includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an accredited Vascular Technology or Ultrasound program required or RVT or equivalent credential required
  • Registered or registry eligible with physics portion of registry obtained is preferred.
  • Must obtain registry within 12 months of graduation date.
  • CPR or BLS Required.
  • Act 33, 34, 73 or as required by business unit.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) OR Registered Vascular Specialist OR Registered Vascular Technologist
  • Act 34

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ultrasound and Doppler physics during vascular examinations
  • Obtain accurate and detailed vascular patient histories
  • Perform and calculate tracings, spectral analyses, and analog waveforms
  • Troubleshoot equipment and computer terminal issues; perform minor repairs as needed
  • Support staff to ensure competency across all phases of vascular diagnostic services
  • Maintain a safe environment for all vascular patients
