About the position
The Purina Feed Sales Representative role is focused on driving sales of dairy and dairy beef feed products within the Statesville, NC area. This remote, field-based position involves working closely with dealer partners to enhance their market share and efficiency while achieving their sales goals. The representative will engage directly with dairy farms, providing nutritional recommendations and conducting sales activities to promote Purina's products.
Responsibilities
- Calling on dairy & dairy beef farms to evaluate existing feeding programs and recommend nutritional programs.
- Selling/consulting at the farm gate with the goal of selling Purina products and growing sales and market share, including making up to 25 farm calls per week.
- Organizing and conducting effective meetings/events to enhance Purina's brand image and build store traffic with local dealers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field strongly desired.
- Candidates with a pending bachelor's degree or proven sales and industry experience may be considered.
- Previous sales experience highly desired.
- Basic command of making nutritional and feeding recommendations to dairy animal owners.
- Understanding of dairy cattle husbandry, current management practices, and nutritional guidelines.
- Competent in providing accurate feeding and management recommendations.
- Strong computer skills, specifically MS Office, and ability to be trained on ration balancing software (HerdSmart), Salesforce, etc.
- Strong background and previous professional experience with dairy animals.

- Experience in management and care of dairy animals.
- Solid public speaking skills.
Benefits
- Base salary dependent upon experience/tenure, generally ranging between 50,000-60,000.
- Commission driven by individual performance.
