About The Position

The Purina Feed Sales Intern position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the agricultural sales sector, specifically within the feed business. Interns will work closely with local sales representatives and the Purina Animal Nutrition team, focusing on various aspects of the feed industry, including market research, customer engagement, and sales strategies. The internship will provide exposure to on-farm feed trials and the cooperative structure, with a focus on grass cattle and dairy cross beef.

Requirements

• Pursuing an animal science or related agriculture bachelor's degree preferred with sophomore, junior, or senior status.
• Understanding of animal husbandry, management practices, nutritional guidelines, and industry knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal communication ability, excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Previous sales experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and traverse on uneven ground.
• Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Execute summer projects to promote Purina and grow customer base.
• Participate in farm calls and market surveys with producers to meet their needs.
• Assist with market analysis/research to identify and grow the current customer base.
• Plan events for customers to learn more about Purina products, such as customer appreciation days and clinics.
• Develop in-store selling skills and assist walk-in customers with their needs.
• Learn how to efficiently take customer over-the-phone feed orders.
