Thank you for your interest in the Purdue IT Student Technical Representative position. We are currently reviewing applications for spring 2025. The Student Technical Representative - Student Clerical (13369) will provide customer support for technical questions while working at Purdue IT Learning Spaces help desks located in the HIKS, HSSE, and WALC library spaces. The role involves working with a diverse customer base from the Purdue community including students, staff, and faculty members. Responsibilities include ensuring equipment is operating normally and environments are clean and safe for patrons, coordinating the opening, daily operations, and closing of computer labs, maintaining computers and printers along with lab peripherals, and reporting any equipment or facilities issues. Paid orientation and training will be provided. A brief assessment quiz may be asked of you to complete to provide further information about your abilities and qualifications.

  • Assist customers with technical questions including Purdue password resets, Duo Verification Methods, PAL 3.0, software issues, and printer issues including wide format printing.
  • Create Team Dynamix (TDX) support tickets for customer issues or requests.
  • Keep stations clean, printers stocked with paper, and staplers filled and unjammed.
  • Monitor computer and printer statuses with regular physical checks and by using monitoring tools, investigate issues as needed.
  • Monitor Teams, replying promptly and sharing information as needed.
  • Inventory support for printer paper, peripherals, and cleaning supplies.
  • Regularly visit the labs to check that equipment and facilities are operating normally.
  • Handle assigned TIC (Technology in Classroom) instructor station checks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be available to work for at least 2 full semesters.
  • Customer service experience (not necessarily in an IT environment).
  • Analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using Macintosh operating systems helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge of computer and printer hardware and operating systems helpful but not required.
  • Willing to perform required cleaning to keep work areas clean and presentable.
  • Able to work with the public and provide polite customer service.
  • Willing to learn new technical processes and procedures.
  • Time management skills.
  • Experience using Macintosh operating systems.
  • Knowledge of computer and printer hardware and operating systems.
  • Increase technical skills and knowledge along with expanded customer service abilities.
