About The Position

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for implementing policies and procedures that govern the procurement of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and services. This role focuses on managing delivery, cost, and quality to ensure efficient operations within the organization.

Requirements

• Must have MRP experience.
• Minimum college level degree.
• Good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience in a Materials function.
• Advanced PC literacy, specifically in spreadsheet or database software such as Microsoft Excel and Access.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Good technical manufacturing skills.

Responsibilities

• Contract with vendors for raw materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
• Assess requirements and develop specifications for equipment, materials, and supplies to be purchased.
• Identify and investigate alternative sources of supply, negotiating with vendors on large and complex orders.
• Ensure that prices and delivery arrangements are negotiated to maintain materials inventories at approved levels and within budgetary constraints.
• Monitor suppliers' adherence to quantity, quality, price, and delivery specifications, and act to remedy any discrepancies.
• Schedule and expedite the supply of all material required to support operation's production schedules.
• Obtain quotes, determine and/or negotiate contract terms and conditions, and select and qualify all suppliers.
• Manage material costs and achieve cost reduction targets.
• Evaluate supplier quality performance and manage raw material inventories.
• Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and contact clients and suppliers to resolve problems.
