About The Position

Burkentine is looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join their dynamic team. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for providing estimating and purchasing duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, estimating, purchasing, negotiating, and awarding for light commercial, multi-family, and single-family projects in the south-central PA region. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and excellent organization and customer service skills.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a related purchasing function, or relevant position.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in residential construction field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the individual project workflow to ensure it meets and maintains milestone dates, is complete, and is turned over to the Superintendent as scheduled.
  • Acquires and evaluates quotes to assist in determining the most desirable suppliers based on reputation, price, quality, service, reliability, production, and distribution capabilities.
  • Recruit and onboard new trade partners.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor files, records, and documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions relating to supply and pricing.
  • Analyze schedules and potential trade conflicts with project workloads.
  • Manage incoming quotes and proposals for all projects, saving them into the estimating software, and uploading to the proper file sharing program.
  • Provide detailed material takeoffs in various CSI classifications.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications to compare various bids from multiple subcontractors.
  • Evaluate and compare trade contractors’ scopes of work.
  • Conduct cost analysis and set benchmarks for improvement for current and future projects.
  • Assist in developing and creating documents, workflows, budgets, estimates, and scopes of work with the E&P team.
  • Procure and order long lead time materials ahead of major buyouts.
  • Create and generate purchase orders for vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining the Estimating and Purchasing schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, senior project managers, and production managers.
