Role Overview: The Purchasing Specialist will oversee procurement activities to ensure the accurate and timely availability of raw materials critical to production. This role requires someone who can proactively manage raw material data, anticipate production needs, and collaborate closely with multiple departments to prevent gaps or delays in manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of balancing day-to-day purchasing tasks with strategic supply chain awareness.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to foresee and resolve supply chain challenges.
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Reliability and consistency in completing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to walk production and warehouse areas to monitor inventory and verify orders.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items as needed.
  • Flexibility to assist with other job-related duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Purchase Orders: Verify specifications and pricing, obtain approvals, and issue orders to suppliers.
  • Manage Raw Material Data: Monitor usage, update records, and ensure data accuracy to anticipate production needs.
  • Monitor Orders: Track shipments, expedite deliveries, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Inventory Management: Continuously monitor stock levels and work with production to ensure uninterrupted material supply.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with the Supply Chain Manager, Production Planner, and other teams to support end-to-end procurement processes and prevent production gaps.
  • Analyze Data: Collect, summarize, and provide purchasing planning, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Risk Escalation: Identify supply risks and communicate them promptly to leadership
  • Assist with Month-End Inventory: Support inventory counts and reconciliation.
  • System Knowledge: Maintain understanding of MRP system migration and updates.
  • Other Duties: Perform any additional job-related tasks as requested.
