About The Position

The Strategic Procurement Specialist at Honda is responsible for managing procurement within their category, focusing on cost reduction, supplier relationship management, and risk mitigation. This role involves engaging with business stakeholders, implementing sourcing strategies, and analyzing market trends to drive results. The Specialist will also be accountable for supplier performance metrics and competitive bidding processes, all while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 0-2 years of experience in either a Purchasing and/or Procurement related role or in a field where job knowledge & skills are applicable based on education
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Ariba or major ERP system(s)
  • Basic understanding of commercial terms
  • Understanding of strategic sourcing processes
  • Communication / negotiation skills for various audience levels

Responsibilities

  • Manage Supplier Performance / Development / Risk/ Support Segmentation
  • Execute the Strategic Sourcing Function in Alignment with Category
  • Meet category performance targets and measures, monitor progress and implement countermeasures when necessary
  • Responsible for project implementation and oversight of projects and business plan items, monitors progress and adjusts direction as needed
  • Share ideas, negotiate, collaborate, and build consensus across North America sites
  • Apply key customer (upstream, downstream, and end-user) viewpoint in all category activities
  • Build a network of productive relationships across AHM / HDMA to achieve category plans, targets and compliance.
