About The Position

AquaPhoenix Scientific - a leading manufacturer of reagents, industrial equipment and software for the commercial water treatment industry and producer of STEM education kits is seeking a skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in orchestrating the responsible sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing of goods and materials necessary to meet the company's operational needs. The ideal candidate must comprehend and navigate the complexities of a global procurement environment while managing and coaching a dedicated team of purchasing professionals. Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement and Supply Chain Management, the Purchasing Manager must have proven leadership experience in the procurement and sourcing of a wide variety of commodities, materials, supplies, industrial equipment, and services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in business equivalent.
  • 3-5 years' work experience in a purchasing/procurement role.
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion and communications skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification or degree in a related field.
  • Certification such as CPM, CPSM, or APICS is a plus.
  • Great communication skills along with strong computer skills.
  • Ability to proactively lead, motivate, speak with and train others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reliable and cost-effective strategies through appropriate and ethical sourcing, negotiations, and vendor relationships.
  • Manage the accurate and timely sourcing of supply chain materials in accordance with price, time, quantity, and quality standards to support optimal production efficiency.
  • Conduct frequent vendor reviews and analyze purchasing, sourcing, and pricing trends to meet forecasting demands and minimize purchasing costs.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality standards, delivery time, and best prices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and logistics.
  • Use Lean and Kanban innovative models to ensure cost, quality, logistics and vendor service levels are achieved.
  • Set department work objectives, direct, supervise and review day-to-day team assignments and responsibilities.
