About The Position

Grand Design RV is currently sourcing for a Purchasing Manager. As a Grand Design team member in this role, you will ensure smooth operations within the Purchasing Department for the plant by promptly addressing issues from the production lines. Maintain efficient material flow to keep production running optimally with minimal disruptions. Requirements

  • 3-5 years of purchasing in the RV Industry.
  • Minimum of high school diploma (required), college degree preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing and terms with suppliers.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) systems or similar inventory management tools.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving mindset to address supply chain challenges.
  • Knowledge of RV Industry materials, component, and supply chain logistics.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints.
  • Leadership abilities to guide and support team members within the purchasing department.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, with extensive experience in MS Excel.
  • Self-motivated with a drive for success and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Purchasing accreditation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support current production rates.
  • Source materials for product changes, improvements, and new developments.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to the line buyer to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Prepare and maintain Excel-based MRP (Material Requirements Planning) for assigned product lines.
  • Expedite shortages to prevent production delays.
  • Manage new item requests, phase out obsolete materials, and negotiate pricing with vendors to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Generate and maintain records for both permanent and temporary changes in materials and procurement.
  • Maintain regular communication with production and other departments to address material needs and updates.
  • Lead and manage the purchasing process, including pre-inventory meetings with plant Group Leaders and management, tag distribution, and post-inventory reconciliation.
  • Verify and correct inventory discrepancies, analyze high and low variances, and provide detailed explanations to the finance team regarding inventory adjustments.
