About The Position

As a member of the Purchasing team, the Purchasing Manager provides training and guidance to team members in inventory analysis and purchasing best practices, ensuring effective coordination across all company branches. Our customers are professional, certified Technicians and Contractors who come to Johnstone for our product selection, expertise, and quality service. Johnstone is growing, and so can you. This position is 100% in office Monday – Friday.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Business related field or advanced degree in product management, procurement, or similar field.
  • 5+ years of progressive work experience in related fields.
  • Must be customer focused/results driven.
  • Should have knowledge base in HVAC/R.
  • Experience or an interest in consumer product manufacturing, inventory control, warranty management and distribution functions.
  • Understanding of contracts (supply, services, non-disclosures, etc.).
  • Strong data analysis, data management, and quantitative skills.
  • Comfort with technical concepts and the ability to actively participate in technical conversations.
  • Intellectual curiosity, a passion for learning about new technologies and creative solutions, and enthusiasm for exploring new ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Work with branches, logistics and sales teams to develop effective inventory profiles for routine replenishment.
  • Support inside sales staff by researching product information through vendors and Johnstone Services Team.
  • Gather and distribute bulletins internally as they relate to purchasing. Maintain cost information and inform key personnel as needed.
  • Place, review pricing and costs, and confirm pre-season vendor orders when requested.
  • Assist in the facilitation of inventory flow; assure via transfers and product returns. Manage procurement paths.
  • Analysis of purchase and related expenses to ensure expenses are kept to a minimum.
  • Pre-season, bids, quotations of product lines are handled in an expeditious manner at a profitable manner.
  • Communicate with sales team regarding expected product delivery.
  • Work with the Product and Pricing team to maintain accurate product information.
