About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead day-to-day operations in our Procurement department. In this role, you’ll be responsible for directly managing Coffee Bean purchases and other related products while overseeing and developing a small team of buyers. This role requires a deep understanding of Coffee pricing and commodity market dynamics, pricing history, value opportunities, and overall risk management. The ideal candidate is both analytically strong and operationally grounded. This person will create and execute strategies to optimize category costs, manage inventory, create and maintain pricing transparency, drive supplier innovation, ensure supply continuity, work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, and maintain and develop strong supplier relationships.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Agricultural Economics, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in food and beverage procurement category management with a focus on managing large-scale, multi-unit global spend.
  • Commodity Knowledge: Understanding and use of commodity market data and trends to make informed purchasing decisions and cost-saving initiatives, including experience managing coffee beans, coffee solubles, and related ingredients.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong administrative and analytical skills, including cost benchmarking and developing data-driven recommendations.
  • Cost Strategy: Understanding of total cost of ownership principles, price transparency, and continuous improvement strategies to ensure competitive market-based pricing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with brokers and leveraging financial instruments to reduce price and volume risk is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise team with daily purchasing operations, including sourcing raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and other related products and services.
  • Negotiate green coffee beans and coffee soluble contracts (spot buys, futures and 12-month) and terms with vendors in compliance with food-grade specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Quality on new product sourcing, supplier approvals, and sustainability goals.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain, production, and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Manage brokerage accounts, futures, and other financial derivatives as it relates to the procurement of coffee beans and other related products.
  • Provide regular commodity intelligence updates to leadership to report on coffee market dynamics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring supplier KPIs and competitive pricing are achieved.
  • Develop comprehensive category strategy inclusive of spend analytics, identifying buy patterns, and current and/or new supply partners to support company growth trajectory.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections by providing procurement documentation and traceability.
