About The Position

Position at Judd Wire, Inc. Description Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a Purchasing Manager in our Turners Falls, MA office. This position is responsible for the management of raw materials, supplies, and participation in capital expenditure procurement requirements of the company including: supplier negotiations, development and execution of supplier agreements, maintaining of stock levels within company objectives, supplier problem resolution, record maintenance, supervising of staff and other similar duties necessary to achieve purchasing requirements and company objectives. Hiring Range : $ 81,275.50 - $111,754.21/per year Exempt

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Procurement.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail including analytical thought processes
  • Ability to multitask in a fast pace environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Data-driven decision and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with E xcel , Word, and MRP essential

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing environment a plus

Responsibilities

  • Establish and approve sources of raw materials and supplies; receive quotations and secure bids; makes purchases while controlling prices and quality from approved suppliers.
  • Develop and execute plans for all supplier agreements.
  • Recommend and assign to purchasing team members major purchases of materials based on anticipated price changes, availability and lead times.
  • Coordinate and negotiate cost reductions with supplier base.
  • Negotiate major supplier contracts and present for approval.
  • Interface with suppliers and lead improvement efforts in areas of quality, delivery and cost.
  • Develop supplier partnering initiatives to minimize supplier base while improving service and cost.
  • Ensure that all purchasing and material sales documents are properly completed, maintained and the terms and conditions of purchases and selling are appropriate.
  • Maintain, control and direct adequate stock levels and current inventory status on all assigned items.
  • Make certain that department records are maintained and that purchases and material sales are followed up and/or expedited when required.
  • Review and process claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials, supplies or equipment.
  • Evaluate suppliers and provide expectations to suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers to improve performance issues.
  • Coordinate purchasing with Sales, Production and Engineering, providing information which directly affects quoting and delivery of product.
  • Work with suppliers to source materials, substitute materials, etc., that may improve costs, performance, etc.
  • Keep abreast of trends and significant events in areas of responsibilities.
  • Bring to attention of senior managers, minimizing those situations potentially affecting company operations; make recommendations as to alternatives.
  • Responsible for procurement and sales transfers to parent company.
  • Perform export function and including selling some raw materials to suppliers primarily for use in our products purchased from suppliers.
  • Maintain documentation.
  • Train, instruct, and assign work to staff and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Establish standards of performance; monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Confer with supervisor, HR, and make effective recommendations concerning personnel matters affecting staff.
  • Perform other related duties as responsibilities necessitate or as assigned by supervisor.
