About The Position

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the Procurement department. This includes developing procurement strategies, selecting and building relationships with Suppliers, optimizing inventory levels, negotiating contracts, and controlling activities relating to the procurement of materials and services. All activities are to be performed so that company goals in supplier quality, parts cost and supplier on time delivery can be achieved. The Procurement Manager works closely with suppliers to understand their manufacturing capabilities, then ensure supplier processes can achieve PRC-Saltillo product design requirements. The individual in this position drives continuous improvement projects to improve supplier performance. The Procurement Manager maintains in-house inventory levels to gain parts cost advantages and to prevent parts shortages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing/Production Operations, Management, Supply Chain, or five years Procurement leadership experience is required.
  • Familiarity with electronic components is necessary.
  • Minimum of five years of purchasing experience, including three years of experience in Supplier contract negotiations is highly preferred.
  • Ability to build, develop, and mentor a Procurement team capable of achieving goals and objectives.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, including ability to delegate effectively and the ability to a handle a wide variety of activities is required.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is required.
  • Ability to achieve cost savings and to meet department and company targets.
  • Must possess a high degree of maturity and integrity in conducting business affairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills is required.
  • Good negotiation skills in finding win-win results is essential.
  • Must be able to communicate and work effectively with internal and external individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification (CCP, CPIM, APICS, etc.) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
  • Sources and engages reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiates and maintains a high degree of integrity with suppliers and vendors to secure competitive terms.
  • Reviews existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Works closely with other team members to provide pricing quotes, component availability, and other related information.
  • Builds and maintains long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Approves purchase orders and organizes and confirms delivery of goods and services.
  • Performs risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
  • Controls the procurement budget and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Oversees and manages the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) that track shipments, inventory, and the supply of goods.
  • Organizes returns of over shipments, wrong parts, defective parts, capital equipment in need of repair, etc. Activities relating to this include getting RMA’s (Return Material Authorization), preparing material for return shipment, obtaining credit memos and follow-up.
  • Maintains a complete cost reduction program on all purchasing activity and transactions.
  • Prepares Procurement reports.
  • Responsible for the overall hiring, orienting, training, retaining, evaluating, and developing of department.
  • Provides direction to consistently achieve company set goals and objectives.
  • Develops a culture of teamwork, integrity, respect, and belief in the Company’s mission.
  • Perform other duties as required.
