Always moving forward! > IN THE NEWS The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing purchasing agents and coordinators and managing activities related to negotiating and purchasing materials, supplies, and services. The position also includes responsibilities for inventory optimization, raw material forecasting, supply chain optimization, and monitoring supplier KPI’s while ensuring purchasing strategies align with company objectives and long-term business goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or 7 years of progressive purchasing experience
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical abilities and decision-making skills to conduct price comparisons and evaluate vendor proposals
  • Thorough understanding of procurement best practices, purchasing, and/or supply chain management
  • Skilled in negotiation and building professional networks
  • Solid knowledge of integrated ERP software
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • APICS certification with scheduling experience is preferred, in addition to a purchasing background
  • Previous management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Promote work safety and adhere to established safety procedures
  • Comply and oversee Quality Management Systems (ISO) for purchasing and supplier monitoring
  • Lead, train, and develop purchasing agents to build a high-performing team
  • Identify and secure the best possible prices for goods and services
  • Negotiate contracts and payment terms according to Limits of Authority
  • Monitor supplier performance for delivery, quality, and service
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) and suppliers to enhance performance by addressing quality and delivery concerns
  • Maintain records in accordance with Quality Management System and other purchasing requirements
  • Develop accurate raw material purchase forecasts using historical data, sales projections, and production schedules
  • Align purchasing strategies with company objectives, strategic initiatives, and financial goals
  • Lead initiatives that improve supply chain reliability, resilience, and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain optimal inventory levels using EOQ, safety stock, and demand forecasting
  • Oversee purchases of production materials, supplies, and scrap for recycling operations
  • Support accounting with discrepancy resolution and chargeback documentation
  • Partner with Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Sales to align forecast models with production requirements
  • Reduce slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory while ensuring availability
  • Other duties as assigned by management
