About The Position

This position is responsible for managing supply and demand, planning/forecasting of finished goods and raw materials for domestic and international manufacturing. Incumbent manages plan by scheduling, planning, coordinating, and executing procurement of products and materials as required. Position also coordinates Import/Export activities through forwarders and carriers. This work requires the continual presence at the office to perform role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations Management, or related field, and five years of management experience in an operations capacity within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems with an emphasis on order management, purchasing management, and MRP functionality. Experience with SAP By Design is highly desired.

  • Skilled in use of MS Office Suite applications.
  • Able to effectively analyze and organize sales, production, and inventory data to make effective decisions.
  • Proven experience in sourcing raw materials and/or finished goods domestically and in foreign locations.
  • Ability to effectively manage strong vendor alliances and effectively negotiate on multiple levels.
  • A proven leader, team player and motivator.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and deliver within required deadlines.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication, group presentation skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills to work with MS Office Suite and reports including intermediate to advanced skills with Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills to multi-task, prioritize, and maintain an eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of production/manufacturing lifecycles and capacity planning.
  • Understanding of principles of purchasing management.
  • Understanding of interdependencies within supply chain.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS Certification is a plus
  • Experience with ERP software, SAP by design highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for sourcing and procuring products from domestic and international markets, including the United States, China, and India. Occasional travel to China may be required.
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships, screen/evaluate factories, and establish appropriate performance metrics.
  • Effectively negotiate pricing, contractual terms, and service agreements with vendors to secure the most cost-efficient structures, accelerate lead times, and mitigate operational and financial risks. Drive strategic sourcing initiatives that optimize value while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Evaluate market conditions, sales trends, inventory movement, safety stock levels, vendor delivery performance, lead times, reporting, and customer ordering metrics to determine optimal levels and flow of inventory.
  • Work with planner(s) to support an effective balance of inventory that prevents lost sales due to stock-outs, but assures acceptable turns, while minimizing risk of overstock.
  • Manage supply chain planning staff in assuring purchases, production schedules, purchase order maintenance, date maintenance, pricing, and inventory transfer activities are accurate and timely.
  • Communicate frequently with sales, IT, accounting, manufacturing, QA, and sourcing to ensure all coordination and needs through planning are being handled effectively.
  • Support effective management of import and export logistics activities. Coordinate to ensure effective negotiation of optimal freight rates and service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with customs rules, regulations, and documentation.
  • Schedule/Track raw material levels in support of domestic and overseas manufacturing.
  • Manage availability/arrival dates information as updates are received.
  • Coordinate price and delivery requests for quotes for MRO materials with all departments.
  • Work with all external service providers to maintain accurate lead times and deliveries to customers as well as proper invoicing of all shipments.
  • Lead by example and ensure a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Abide by IPP’s safety and Health Policies and Procedures including wearing proper PPE and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.
