The Purchasing Manager will oversee the supply chain management processes, focusing on the selection, onboarding, qualification, and management of suppliers. This role is critical in strategically identifying and developing suppliers that can support new product introductions, ensuring that raw materials, supplies, outside services, and logistics are effectively managed. The Purchasing Manager will evaluate and maintain supplier qualification criteria through assessment tools to ensure that suppliers can deliver quality products on time and within budget. In addition to supplier management, the Purchasing Manager will prepare or assist the Estimating department with supplier requests for quotes for both existing and new products. The role involves developing strategic suppliers with the necessary capabilities and capacities to support business growth opportunities. The Purchasing Manager will also facilitate Quality Management System (QMS) audit responsibilities related to procurement and supply chain management. The position requires managing all procurement activities, including requisitions, purchase orders, and logistics. The Purchasing Manager will competitively bid and negotiate long-term pricing for parts and supplies related to new projects and released production. A master purchasing schedule will be created and maintained using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) driven by production demand schedules. Establishing robust inventory and stocking levels for regularly used materials and supplies is also a key responsibility. Participation in New Product Introduction (NPI) and production meetings to provide proactive sourcing updates is expected, along with identifying inefficient processes to propose and implement continuous improvement solutions. The role also includes overseeing supplier performance metrics and corrective actions, as well as managing shipping and receiving areas.
