Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/S) in Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Administration
  • Minimum 8+ years related experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a technical position in a high-volume manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) preferred
  • Experience supporting production control, inventory, quality, and shipping and receiving functions
  • Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP/MRP messages and how to respond
  • Basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; Database systems
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment and supplies in support of production needs per the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) or requisition system and recommends stock reorder points
  • Evaluates vendor quotes and services by means of spend analysis and market analysis to determine most desirable quote
  • Responsible for annual cost savings goals and management through realization on the P&L
  • Validates purchase order confirmation
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with suppliers
  • Resolves issues with rejections, certifications, delivery commitments (OTD), invoice discrepancies and other documentation problems
  • Expedites delivery of critical items as required
  • Evaluates suppliers on the basis of competitive advantage and supplier metrics
  • Creates strategic objectives for supplier management with support from Management
  • Occasionally, the incumbent will be asked and expected to perform various, miscellaneous, and non-standard duties as required
