A day in the life… As a Purchasing Assistant, you are responsible for communication to the purchasing agent and management in the facility. You will handle purchasing for all departments and negotiating for pricing and delivery. You will also be responsible for inventory counts and accuracy of inventory managed by the assistant.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak, read, and write English fluently, with or without an accommodation
  • Ability to routinely and frequently stand, stoop, bend, and lift overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications required (Excel, data entry and spreadsheets)
  • Use SAP functions to analyze business
  • Work with vendors in a courteous, friendly and professional manner

Responsibilities

  • Analyze inventory to place orders from vendors
  • Process maintenance orders
  • Research cost alternatives to get the best pricing
  • Inventory non-production items weekly
  • Send orders through management approval stages
  • Work with supervisors and employees on their needs
  • Monitor all orders for delivery, past due and quantities
  • Verify packing lists and filing
  • Order office supplies for entire plant
  • Balance credit card statements
  • Manage shoe program
  • Work with warehouses on receiving supplies for non-production items
  • Ship out packages for Fed Ex and other carriers
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure product quality and maintain compliance with food safety standards
  • Complete and follow FSQA training and programs to comply with regulatory requirements, ensure consumer safety, and support the plant’s food safety and quality objectives
  • Promptly report and take appropriate action on any observed or potential food safety hazards, process deviations, or non-conformities by notifying the designated plant supervisor, in accordance with your role and responsibilities
  • Actively contributes to the continuous improvement of the company’s Food Safety Culture through engagement and actions aligned with your role
