About The Position

The Purchasing Analyst supports the procurement function by owning purchasing analytics, reporting, and systems support across construction operations. This role reports directly to the Director of Purchasing and serves as a key resource for procurement and operations leadership by providing accurate, timely data related to purchasing activity, vendor performance, pricing trends, and rebate programs. In addition to reporting, the Purchasing Analyst is expected to identify trends, flag risks or inconsistencies, and recommend opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and vendor optimization. This position plays a central role in BuildOps reporting, rebate tracking, and preparation of data and materials for vendor meetings and internal reviews, working closely with Purchasing, Estimating, Project Management, Accounting, and Operations teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred; relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or construction-related data analysis.
  • Experience analyzing purchasing, financial, or cost data in a construction or project-based environment.
  • Working knowledge of construction materials, equipment, subcontract procurement, and related documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to interpret construction estimates, budgets, and cost reports.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with supplier performance metrics, cost modeling, or rebate tracking preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP or procurement systems (BuildOps experience a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze purchasing activity, material pricing, and vendor performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance procurement dashboards and recurring reports for procurement and operations leadership.
  • Track cost variances between estimate, buyout, and final project costs, highlighting drivers and exceptions.
  • Monitor market pricing trends for key construction materials (steel, copper, PVC, etc.) and communicate relevant impacts.
  • Support forecasting of material cost changes, supply chain constraints, and potential project risk exposure.
  • Serve as a primary BuildOps reporting and data support resource for the procurement team.
  • Assist with review and analysis of vendor quotes to support pricing comparisons and sourcing decisions.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, documentation, and reporting inputs within procurement systems.
  • Support vendor onboarding and data validation to ensure system accuracy and reporting consistency.
  • Track vendor delivery performance, pricing compliance, and service metrics.
  • Maintain vendor performance scorecards and support preparation of materials for vendor and B2B review meetings.
  • Own rebate tracking, validation, and reporting in coordination with vendors and accounting.
  • Identify pricing discrepancies, rebate shortfalls, or compliance issues and escalate findings with recommended actions.
  • Partner with Purchasing Managers, Project Managers, and Estimators to support buyout analysis and decision-making.
  • Assist in evaluating value engineering and substitution opportunities through data-driven analysis.
  • Track committed costs versus budgets and proactively flag variances or emerging risks.
  • Support material-related change order analysis and procurement-related financial reviews.
  • Identify procurement reporting gaps, data inconsistencies, and process inefficiencies, recommending improvements.
  • Support ERP and procurement system enhancements focused on data quality, reporting accuracy, and workflow efficiency.
  • Assist with implementation and ongoing support of strategic sourcing and vendor standardization initiatives.
