As a Purchasing Agent at Silicon Valley Mechanical, you will play a crucial role in supporting our commercial projects through effective purchasing and procurement of materials and parts. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about sourcing and procuring plumbing and piping materials, equipment, and supplies according to project requirements and budget constraints. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely arrival of materials and communicating lead times to relevant team members, which is essential for the successful completion of our projects. In this role, you will negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing, collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project needs and timelines. You will create Purchase Orders (POs) based on requisitions and supply requests, gather recommendations from suppliers for substitute items when necessary, and partner with appropriate personnel for approval. Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors is key, as is maintaining an understanding of parts and market trends associated with your assigned commodity. Your responsibilities will also include researching product pricing and market trends to ensure delivery and terms align with project needs, verifying the receipt of items, and resolving any discrepancies with suppliers. You will guide the Purchasing Assistant in supporting tasks as needed and maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance. Additionally, you will inform management of upcoming pricing changes related to your assigned commodities and assist the Purchasing Department with other duties as business requires.
