About The Position

We are looking to fill a Purchasing Agent position in Byers CO. As the Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating vendor terms, and ensuring orders meet budget, quality, and delivery requirements. This role manages vendor relationships, prepares quotes, tracks orders, and identifies cost-saving opportunities to support continuous production cycles.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of purchasing-related experience
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations for cost savings
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with accurate recordkeeping skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • The physical activity required for this role includes:
  • Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration
  • Ability to lift and move office products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as needed
  • Regular use of computer and office equipment
  • Standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time in an office environment
  • Other repetitive movements, such as kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • This position is subject to the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol testing regulations as outlined in 49 CFR Part 382 and/or 49 CFR Part 199.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established purchasing policies, processes, and procedures
  • Negotiate vendor terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to meet budget and timeline requirements
  • Place orders using accurate part numbers and specifications
  • Generate daily reports to track and expedite orders
  • Create material sheets to prioritize items critical to customer needs
  • Prepare pricing bids and provide accurate quotes
  • Maintain and strengthen current vendor relationships
  • Identify and implement cost-saving and cost-reduction strategies
  • Schedule materials and equipment to support continuous production cycles
  • Assist with shipping and receiving activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
