Punch Press Operator
About The Position
Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing is currently seeking a skilled Punch Press Operator to join our team. As a Punch Press Operator, you will be responsible for the operation of heavy-duty mechanical or hydraulic power presses to produce high-precision metal stampings and components. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical mechanical aptitude and a commitment to maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards. About Us: Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing has specialized in medium- to high-volume contract metal stamping, progressive die stamping, and CNC machining since 1970. Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing specializes in both deep-draw and progressive die stamping. We are equipped with man servo, high-speed, mechanical, and hydraulic stamping presses ranging from 30 to 400 tons. Our machines are optimized for automation with in-die contact and non-contact sensors. We are also experts in secondary put-and-take operations for parts that cannot be completed in a progressive die. Additionally, we have multiple 5-axis Emmegi XT extrusion milling centers with a bed capacity of 30 feet, plus turrets, lasers, and more. Position Overview Operate presses safely and efficiently Monitor machine performance and make real time adjustments Perform quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools Maintain production records and documentation Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications. Identify and correct defects or deviations. Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning Report any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
- Previous punch press experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Prior fork-lift operation is preferred.
