About The Position

The position involves monitoring machines' performance, making necessary adjustments to ensure efficient and accurate production. Responsibilities include loading materials, selecting appropriate tools, and configuring machine settings for each job. The operator will program and adjust machine controls to ensure accurate bending and perform machine operations based on blueprints to understand what parts to manufacture. Additionally, the role requires inspecting finished items using precision-measuring instruments and performing quality inspections to ensure that finished products meet customer specifications and quality standards. The operator will monitor machine operations to detect any malfunctions or defects, load and unload metal materials onto machines, and maintain a clean and organized work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Safety is emphasized as the most important part of all jobs within Nucor, and candidates must demonstrate the ability to uphold safety policies and practices at all times.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic math skills
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Use hand and/or power tools
  • Prior experience operating machines
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Understand verbal and written instructions

Nice To Haves

  • High School Graduate or GED, preferred
  • Experience as a Punch Press Operator or similar role
  • CNC machine certification
  • Ability to read and understand G code
  • Previous experience working for a manufacturing company, preferred
  • Knowledge of 5S, Lean manufacturing
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities
