About The Position

Flowserve is seeking a Technical Training Specialist for Pumps & Pump Systems, based in the Beaumont, Pasadena, or Port Arthur, TX area. In this role, you will deliver high‑quality training for internal teams and external customers through classroom, virtual, and hands‑on instruction. A key focus of this position—approximately 25–30% of your time—will be spent supporting Flowserve’s partnership with the pump laboratory at Lamar University. This includes teaching and mentoring students, coordinating activities with faculty and administration, and serving as a visible Flowserve ambassador on campus. The ideal candidate is passionate about technical education, experienced with rotating equipment, and skilled at building positive relationships across diverse groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field, OR equivalent experience with pumps, mechanical seals, or rotating equipment.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching, mentoring, or training diverse groups.
  • Strong communication skills, including spoken, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Confident interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport across academic, customer, and internal environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of HSE and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40–50%.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands‑on field service experience with pumps, compressors, or mechanical seals.
  • Mechanical skills such as alignment, assembly/disassembly, rigging, and precision installation.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, reliability practices, or condition monitoring.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
  • Previous experience mentoring students or working within an academic or training partnership.
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills in fast‑paced or customer‑facing environments.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Flowserve‑aligned pump laboratory at Lamar University by teaching students, assisting with lab demonstrations, coordinating training sessions, and maintaining strong engagement with faculty and administration.
  • Represent Flowserve on campus by building relationships, promoting industry knowledge, and supporting student development.
  • Travel up to 40–50% to deliver training at various Flowserve and customer sites across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Deliver technical training on pumps, pump systems, and mechanical seals through in‑person classes, virtual modules, and hands‑on workshops.
  • Facilitate training using materials developed by the Flowserve training development team.
  • Review and validate draft training content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and real‑world applicability.
  • Monitor and track training metrics, participant feedback, and learning outcomes; share insights to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and prepare training equipment, rotating machinery, and workshop tools to ensure readiness for all instructional sessions.
  • Perform and teach root cause analysis for centrifugal pump and mechanical seal issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and OSHA regulations in all training and lab environments.
  • Provide professional, customer‑focused support to participants, students, and partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
