About The Position

This individual removes, disassembles, repairs / remanufacturers, reassembles, and installs pumps, motors, electrical controls, piping, valves, and associated equipment. Technician must be capable of working independently, representing the company to clients, and working with / supervising helpers. The technician will work in field and/or shop environments. The company’s clients include industrial, chemical, commercial, mining and/or municipal applications. Working with sewage, other hazardous liquids, confined space, and electrical components up to 600 volts is expected. The Technician must be capable of professionally communicating with clients, suppliers, and company personnel. Technician will be responsible for a project from beginning or receipt to completion. What you will do: In-shop duties include: Learn and follow company procedures and requirements for completing written documentation / reports. Disassembly and reassembly of complex machines and electrical controls -- sometimes without instructions. Inspection of parts for defects and cause of failure or wear using precision measuring devices including rulers, calipers, micrometers, and complex electrical testing equipment and knowledge. Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy, formulate step-by-step procedures to accomplish tasks, and make recommendations for repairs. Upon receiving approval, complete the work, deliver, install, and perform final startup and testing. Read and understand technical drawings, pump curves, IOM manuals, and schematics. Be literate in English, and able to legibly write reports, purchase orders, etc., by hand. Communicate with company employees and clients regarding recommended repairs and inspection findings. Order mechanical and electrical parts and components. Clean, sandblast, paint, repair and prepare equipment for shipping. Knowledge of machining utilizing powered machine tools, welding, grinding, etc. beneficial. Other duties as assigned. Field duties will consist of: Observe and test the operation of mechanical and electrical systems using electrical multi-meters, vibration monitors, laser and dial alignment tools, pressure gauges, flowmeters, and other test equipment. Analyze mechanical and electrical systems for proper operation and diagnose equipment problems/issues. Remove and install equipment including pumps, motors, baseplates, electric control panels, variable frequency drives, wiring, piping, and conduit using hoists, cranes, rigging, hand and power tools. Inspect and adjust machinery and controls for proper operation including greasing, aligning, and cleaning. Instruct equipment operators on proper operation of complete systems. Conduct periodic maintenance inspections and prepare reports for clients. Safely work on jobsite within the boundaries set by OSHA 1910 and 1926 including confined space entry, fall protection and overhead lifting. Driving automatic and standard transmission vehicles, towing trailers, driving forklifts, and operating cranes Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and experience are required
  • Must be knowledgeable / willing to work on equipment up to 460 volts.
  • Use of basic tools, mechanical and electrical testing equipment, lifting devices, computers, and basic office software.
  • Must be capable of dealing with clients in a professional businesslike manner, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires valid Colorado driver’s license with clean record.
  • Technicians are expected to provide their own basic hand tools and cordless power tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical licenses, electrical controls knowledge, machining, welding abilities, and certifications in any specialty is a plus.
  • Knowledge of machining utilizing powered machine tools, welding, grinding, etc. beneficial.
  • High School Diploma, Associates or Bachelor’s Degree or additional training preferred
