About The Position

This role is with Hudson Pump & Equipment, a division of Tencarva Machinery Company. This role will be based partly in the field and partly at our repair shop. Candidate must live within a commutable distance (appx. 45-min) of our repair facility (appx. 10 miles west of West Palm Beach). Role Summary: Repair/rebuild customer equipment, including but not limited to the following: centrifugal pumps, vertical turbines, positive displacement pumps, air operated pumps, vacuum pumps, blowers, gearboxes, mixers/agitators, etc. Provide technical field service/support (onsite at customer locations).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; 2-4 years of related work experience and/or training.
  • Must possess understanding of and compliance with codes and OSHA regulations, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, hot work, crane rigging/signaling, and job hazard analysis.
  • Ability to safely use lifting materials such as chain-falls, come-along, clevis, slings, and chains
  • Experience in rebuilding & installation of pumps
  • Experience with laser alignment of all types of equipment
  • Experience installing various types of process equipment, including pumps, turbines, motors, gearboxes, blowers, mechanical seals & packing, bearings, couplings, piping & gaskets, valves, etc. This role will also involve installation of sole plates (concrete, leveling, anchoring, and alignment) and pump bases (concrete, leveling, anchoring, and alignment)
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have technical understanding of machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, machinery detail drawings, and layout drawings
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve any issues or malfunctions with equipment
  • Must possess drive and initiative
  • Must possess ability to listen to instruction and follow direction given
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of whole numbers, and percentage and decimals.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and internet software knowledge.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and no points.
  • Must be able to exert force over 100 pounds occasionally, and more than 50 pounds frequently; climb, balance, stop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include being able to accommodate/adjusting the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus and maintain a good field of vision, observing an area that can be seen up or down or right or left while eyes are fixed in a given point.
  • Must be able to fulfill all essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for Certification in Rigging & Signaling
  • Millwright education/training is helpful but not required
  • Welding and fabrication skills are helpful but not required
  • Experience with industrial field pipefitting is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, service customer equipment at the customer’s location in response to customers’ calls
  • Perform some in-shop equipment repair - rebuilding pumps and other types of engineered/process equipment.
  • Installation of various types of equipment, including pumps, turbines, motors, gearboxes, blowers, mechanical seals & packing, bearings, couplings, piping & gaskets, valves, etc. This role will also involve installation of sole plates (concrete, leveling, anchoring, and alignment) and pump bases (concrete, leveling, anchoring, and alignment)
  • Laser Alignment of all types of rotating equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on customer equipment at the customer’s location
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, machinery detail drawings, and layout drawings
  • Some jobs may require field welding, pipefitting, and fabrication
  • Travel for customer assistance or training
  • Establish a work schedule in coordination with Service & Repair Manager and Repair Coordinator
  • Maintain field or shop work area in a safe, clean, and working order
  • Adhere to safety rules and policies of both Tencarva and the customer
  • Proper safety equipment to be used per Company safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
