About The Position

Responsible for assisting with pump inspections and rehabilitation of water well/non-water well pumps and equipment (ie. vertical turbine pumps, booster pumps, high serviced mix flow/axial pumps, split case pumps, horizontal/end suction pumps, motors and right angle gear drives) including basic maintenance of equipment, machines and tools in a manner to achieve optimal safety, efficiency, quality, reliability, staff morale and teamwork by performing the duties listed in the following section. This is a manual labor, physically intensive position with repetitive tasks. All employees of Weisinger Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent or applicable experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and clean motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to speak, read and understand English required for basic job function.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical or safety procedures, manuals and standards.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals in standard and metric units.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations with and without a calculator.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of basic analytical equipment including: Micrometer Caliper Meg-o-meter.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to ask questions to better understand situations.
  • Mechanical inclinations including proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift and/or move up to 75 pounds assisted.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds assisted.
  • Ability to distinguish fine details, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color and ability to adjust focus required.
  • Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to distinguish alterations in mechanical processes.
  • This position requires full use of arms and back, and is comprised of repetitive motions.
  • Stamina is required as employees may work physically demanding shifts of up to or more than 10 hours per shift.
  • If employee maintains commercial driver’s license, compliance with 37 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 4 (which includes but is not limited to satisfactory Texas Department of Transportation physical exam and random drug testing) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift and welding machine are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use handling tools such as tongs and wrenches.
  • Store and care for all tools, spare parts, materials and supplies.
  • Follow all safety regulations, policies, principles and procedures.
  • Use proper Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Responsible for basic maintenance of supporting equipment (including company vehicles, forklift, etc) before, during and after shift.
  • Assist with inspections and disassembly of pumps off of jobs. Prepare pumps for inspections and inspect shafts.
  • Identify brand name and parts of assembly.
  • Review and ensure an adequate inventory on hand for job supplies (ie. motors, pumps, nuts, bolts, etc). Document results weekly and submit to shop manager.
  • Assist with receiving, reviewing and routing materials and shipping tickets or bills of lading to shop manager for department.
  • Assist with pulling pumps on job sites as needed.
  • Consistently maintain a keen awareness of situation and surroundings to ensure safety of self and team members, particularly around rotating equipment and with trip hazards.
  • Deliver materials as needed.
  • Take care during operations to leave shop area and equipment in clean, operable condition. Immediately report all maintenance repair issues to shop manager
  • Display willingness to learn about pump maintenance operations and assist with completing inspection and required reports. Continually develop technical skills.
  • When moving equipment (i.e. fork lift), observe job site and assist as needed to prevent damage and destruction of equipment or property.
  • Operate vehicles and comply with all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • If employee maintains a commercial driver’s license, complete driver vehicle inspection reports before and after operating commercially regulated vehicles. Submit inspection reports after each shift. It is the employee’s responsibility to review weight limits and monitor hours of service for compliance.
  • Immediately notify supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.
  • Perform basic housekeeping including but not limited to disposing of garbage and organizing job site, crew truck and employee lockers before, during and after shift. This includes keeping the tool box organized.
  • Must be available by phone and be readily available to report to work as needed at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may include working in another department as needed.
