About The Position

Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to in patients and out patients. Responsible for equipment and procedures related to the support of pulmonary function lab and bronchoscopy suite. Provides Education for lab personnel, medical and respiratory care students.

Requirements

  • Associates Respiratory Therapy or Bachelors Respiratory Therapy-Preferred
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Prof
  • NBRC-RPFT - Reg Pulmonary Function Tech or NBRC-RPFT-P - Reg Pulmonary Function Tech - Provisional (1 Year) within 1 Year
  • NBRC-RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapi
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor
  • Minimum 2 years Respiratory Care.
  • Must be RPFT after one year employment Required

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic services consistent with the scope of services of the pulmonary function laboratory.
  • Performs complex invasive interventions such as Bronchoscopy to obtain BAL samples, transbronchial needle biopsies, full lung wash out, EBUS and EBUN in conjunction with Super D Navigation systems in the OR, Bronch suite and Interventional endoscopy suite.
  • Performs standard in lab and portable studies including Body Plethysmography, Pre and Post bronchodilator spirometry, Methacholine bronchprovocation studies and DLCO under medical supervision.
  • Maintains all competency with respiratory standards and skills in the following areas: oxygen and aerosol therapy, blood sampling techniques; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; suctioning, CPT and all other airway clearance techniques; respiratory assessment; and actions, side effects and doses of all medications used in the laboratory.
  • Proficient in equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
  • Meets all Respiratory Care Services (RCS) and Medical Center policy requirements without frequent reminders and assists the RCS as required by need.
  • Actively participates in the coordination of patient care.
  • Can perform Cardiopulmonary Exercise CPX with arterial line insertion.
  • Can support the Pulmonary research program and maintains essential grant documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
