About The Position

Celadon Books, a division of Macmillan, is seeking a Publicity Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in high priority fiction, lifestyle, and expert-driven nonfiction titles. This role includes executing all aspects of a publicity campaign, including national and regional media booking, producing events and book tours, and overseeing author travel arrangements. Additionally, the role will involve representing the publicity department at key acquisition meetings and work closely with authors, agents, and cross-functional teams to shape the success of each launch.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in publicity.
  • Initiative and desire to work successfully in a fast-paced, small team environment, self-directing day-to-day activities and prioritization.
  • Strong attention to detail, with an ability to follow up on items to ensure tight timelines and releases are met.
  • Established relationships with key media bookers (broadcast, print, and digital, including podcasts).
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to escort and travel domestically with authors by car, train, and plane when needed.
  • Understanding of AI models to be used for research and development of campaigns as well as a curiosity around new uses of AI for workflow optimization is a plus.
  • Must be in office as necessary for author management, group in-person brainstorms or projects, as well as select group events.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
  • Familiarity with Muckrack, NetGalley, and Edelweiss.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic, high-visibility publicity campaigns across fiction, lifestyle, and expert-driven nonfiction titles—from launch planning through long-lead and publication.
  • Secure national and regional media across broadcast, print, digital, podcasts, and emerging platforms through compelling, targeted outreach.
  • Plan and execute author tours and events, managing logistics, media appearances, and bookseller and festival coordination.
  • Draft and shape all press materials, including pitch letters, press releases, Q&As, and strategic talking points.
  • Collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, sales, and agents to align campaign strategy and maximize visibility across all channels.
  • Oversee paperback publicity strategy, including re-engagement plans, repackaging hooks, and long-lead follow-up.
