About The Position

As an HBG Publicity Intern at Storey Publishing, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings. Program dates: February 2 – April 27, 2026 Location: Remote Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm Pay rate: $17/hour Who you are: Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Enthusiastic and excited about discussing recent books you’ve read Possess a great attitude and a desire to learn as well as excellent organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute insights Resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently Must be results driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed Interest in or eagerness to learn about the current media landscape, book publicity, and other related activities Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint What you will learn: Research social media influencers, niche Substack writers and podcasts that would be a fit for Storey authors, and other target media Write early drafts of press releases, galley letters, and pitch emails for upcoming titles Coordinate GoodReads, influencer mailings, and other book giveaways Update and maintain NetGalley digital review platform Use digital tools to search for publicity opportunities for authors General new opportunity research (brand partner database/watching competition/marketing trends) Write and update keywords and descriptions to optimize for maximum discoverability Perform administrative duties such as route galley copy, process office warehouse orders, track inventory, create galley orders, coordinate mailings, schedule meetings, create and distribute weekly reports, and track publicity hits.

Requirements
