The Public Works Superintendent at Morillo Construction Inc. is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of assigned public works projects, ensuring their safe and successful completion. This role requires extensive experience in public works construction, particularly in the Los Angeles area, and involves managing project schedules, coordinating subcontractor work, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications.

  • Manage project schedule and critical path activities, creating a work breakdown schedule with logistics, costing, and resource-loading for the master schedule.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate subcontractor work, verifying that their post-bid scope matches the original bids.
  • Verify the construction set of documents with the bid set documents.
  • Ensure adherence to subcontracts and the General Contract.
  • Issue proper notifications and requests to subcontractors and owners.
  • Prepare and track documentation such as RFIs, RFCs, bulletins, change orders, and project photos.
  • Prepare punch lists and facilitate project close-out processes.
  • Process applications for permits and utility fees as required.
  • Coordinate billing percentages with subcontractors and notify them of approved percentages.
  • Conduct weekly subcontractor and safety meetings, enforcing safety policies.
  • Attend weekly Owner meetings and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices.
  • Minimum 10 years experience as a Superintendent on Public Works projects of $10M and above.
  • Experience in both union and non-union environments with a general contractor.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in the Los Angeles area and LAUSD special requirements.
  • Experience managing multiple project teams across fast track projects.
  • Self-motivated with good problem-solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Procore, MS Project, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Management experience including coaching, feedback delivery, and mentorship.
  • Experience in managing, training, and developing people.
  • Experience with complex, fast-paced, and high visibility projects.
