The Public Works Maintenance Worker III is responsible for providing building maintenance services, which include sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors using various cleaning equipment such as brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and buffers. The role also involves dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture, washing walls, windows, ceiling fixtures, blinds, and room partitions. Additionally, the worker is tasked with cleaning urinals, toilet bowls, mirrors, sinks, and water fountains, as well as replacing deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap. Heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment must be moved to accomplish custodial tasks, and scrap and trash must be removed to a central pickup point. Furthermore, the position includes the collection and disposal of refuse and recyclables from City residences, businesses, parks, and City facilities on weekends, requiring the operation of a refuse/recycling collection truck. This position works weekends.
