About The Position

Town of Eaton, Colorado Public Works Maintenance Technician II The Town of Eaton is seeking a dedicated and skilled Public Works Maintenance Technician II to join our Public Works Department. This role performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks to ensure the proper maintenance and operation of the Town's streets, parks, facilities, cemetery, and equipment. Reporting to the Public Works Foreman, this position contributes to the safety, appearance, and functionality of our community assets. Essential Duties Participate in on-call rotation, respond to emergencies, and perform after-hours work as needed. Install and maintain pavement, drainage systems, pavement markings, traffic control devices, and infrastructure. Participate in snow and ice removal from streets, parking lots, and sidewalks; remove weeds and trash in parks and along roadways. Maintain parks, ballfields, cemetery lawns, sprinkler systems, flower and plant beds through various landscaping tasks. Conduct facilities maintenance including inspection and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and related systems. Operate, inspect, clean, and assist with maintenance of assigned equipment and vehicles; diagnose and repair equipment systems. Assist with water, wastewater, and sewer plant maintenance and operations as needed; perform meter reading. Respond professionally to inquiries and complaints from residents, employees, and other agencies. Perform inventories, order parts, and arrange for pick-up of supplies from approved vendors. Help develop and update standard operating procedures; recommend improvements to the Public Works Foreman. Research new solutions, technology, tools, and safety requirements as directed. Promote and follow all safety practices and participate in Safety Committee activities. Perform other duties as required to support the department and the Town's mission. Demonstrates reliability, initiative, and a commitment to quality work. Is skilled in a variety of maintenance disciplines such as electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, landscaping, and mechanical systems. Is comfortable working outdoors and indoors in a range of weather conditions and environments. Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with team members, supervisors, vendors, and the public. Exhibits strong problem-solving abilities and can manage multiple tasks and priorities. Adheres to safety standards and promotes a safe work culture. Shows flexibility and willingness to work non-standard hours when required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred; completion of two years of technical school or an associate degree is preferred.
  • Three to five years as a Public Works Maintenance Technician I, construction laborer, heavy equipment operator/mechanic, facilities maintenance technician, or similar role. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid driver's license required; reliable transportation; residence within 30 minutes of the facility for on-call responsibilities is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within six months of employment.
  • Must pass background checks, including MVR, references, drug screening, physical capabilities exam, and criminal history.
  • Must provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Basic computer, tablet, and smartphone proficiency; ability to read/respond to emails/texts; ability to complete time sheets.
