This position involves performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks, operating various smaller equipment within the Public Works Department. The employee works under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director and is required to use light motorized vehicles and equipment, including common hand and power tools, such as pitch forks, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, wrenches, and mobile or portable radios. The role primarily involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to heavy lifting, traffic hazards, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and a generally loud work environment. Proper use of safety equipment is mandatory due to the inherent dangers of manual and power tool operation and working in public rights-of-way.
