About The Position

Compost site attendants will operate out of the Compost Site shed and are responsible for point-of-sale-transactions with users of the Compost Site. A positive attitude and strong customer service skills are needed to perform this job.

Requirements

• Knowledge of department policy, procedures and work rules.
• Ability to work independently but remain flexible in accordance with demands of schedule and work team in order to achieve department objectives.
• Ability to adhere to safety standards and recognize safety warnings and hazards.
• Ability to demonstrate polite and courteous manner toward fellow employees and Township customers.
• Ability to demonstrate physical fitness to include occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
• Ability to stand and walk frequently up to 50% of the time.
• Bending, pushing and pulling occasionally (less than 50% of the time).
• Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
• Ability to talk, hear and see.

Responsibilities

• Check vehicle type and quantity/type of material to ensure it is acceptable for disposal at the Compost Site.
• Determine the fees to be charged in accordance with a posted fee schedule. This will be a "no cash" operation – credit/debit cards only.
• Process cashless payments using an automated credit card/debit card payment system after determining the applicable fee based on the posted fee schedule.
