About The Position

Regional Wastewater Reclamation is seeking a detail oriented, experienced professional to help ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of our public sanitary sewer projects as a Public Works Construction Inspector I. In this role, you'll play a vital role in monitoring construction activities, verifying adherence to plans and specifications, and collaborating with contractors, engineers, and project managers to deliver projects that serve our community for years to come. This position, conducts inspections of new work and/or repairs to Public Works Construction Projects to ensure compliance with Pima County standards and specifications and approved project plans and specifications. Requirements

  • Two years of experience in construction projects such as sewers, water lines, roadways, bridges, and flood control channels.
  • Two years of experience with Pima County as a Public Works Engineering Technician, Sewer Line Construction Worker.
  • Two years of experience with Pima County as a Utility Locator or Utility Coordinator.
  • Valid driver license is required at time of application.
  • Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum two (2) years experience as a lead in underground utility construction.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as an inspector for a wastewater sewer system, water distribution system, and or storm drain system.
  • Experience with/knowledge of standard construction procedures and techniques.
  • Experience with/knowledge of using a computer.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects Public Works construction projects for general compliance with County specifications and design plans
  • Coordinates, monitors, and documents details of testing and start-up procedures, and compiles results and certifications to ensure Department and State minimum requirements are met prior to acceptance of the construction work
  • Works with utility companies to establish suitable locations for utilities within construction constraints, and inspects installation of utility and drainage pipes
  • Ensures project-specific requirements to minimize environmental and public impact during construction are enforced
  • Executes confined-space/hot-entry procedures and uses safety equipment as needed during the performance of the inspection activities
  • Documents actions and activities during the performance of construction activities and during emergency responses.
