The Public Utilities Financial Analyst I position is responsible for performing entry-level accounting and financial analysis work related to public utilities for the Kentucky Public Service Commission. The role involves analyzing financial data, assisting in the preparation of reports, and supporting senior analysts in their tasks, all aimed at ensuring the provision of safe and reliable utility services at reasonable rates.

  • Assist in the analysis of financial data and accounting policies of water and sewer utilities
  • Draft orders explaining the Commission's decisions regarding allocations and rate design issues
  • Assist senior analysts in the review and preparation of billing analysis
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, business administration, or a related field
  • No prior experience required
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant can substitute for the required education
  • Education and/or experience in accounting
