About The Position

The Humanities Department at Jefferson Community College is seeking part-time adjunct faculty in Public Speaking & Communication to grow our adjunct pool. Candidates may be needed to teach in one or more of the following courses: Fundamentals of Oral Communication, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Managing Conflict. This is a pooled search. Jefferson Community College is seeking to develop a pool of qualified applicants to teach courses in Communication. Adjunct applications will be kept on file for three years to fill part-time teaching vacancies as they occur. The College determines the need for adjunct instructors based on planned courses each term; it is not possible to predict the need for future semesters. When an opening does occur, finalists for adjunct positions are contacted for interviews.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communication (Non-Media) is required; however, a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college level is required.
  • Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.
