About The Position

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Public Services Supervisor in our Public Services Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with course work in engineering technology, construction industry, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, roadways, equipment operations, or other relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Requires South Carolina State Pesticide Applicator’s license.
  • Requires road flagger training.
  • OSHA Level 2/Hazardous Materials Operations Training.
  • South Carolina Class A/B Operator Training.
  • Must obtain the following training certificates: Defensive Driving, Basic First Aid & CPR, Fire Extinguisher, AED, Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, recommending disciplinary actions and completing employee performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work and establishes work schedules
  • Monitors status of work in progress.
  • Inspects completed work assignments.
  • Answers questions and gives direction as needed.
  • Performs general office/clerical work preparing reports and correspondence, compiling data, assisting with budget preparation.
  • Performs streets maintenance such as mowing, trimming, tree removal, chemical applications, litter control, weed control, patching asphalt, fixing sidewalks and driveway entrances, repairing storm water issues, etc.
  • Receives/reviews/enters tasks and work orders, vehicle reports, general office correspondence; maintains inventory control.
  • Oversees OSHA compliance standards.
  • Develops specifications and receives quotes for bids/purchases.
  • Provides support for after-hours events and on call support.
  • May act as lead supervisor in absence of Public Service Superintendent.
  • Adheres to policy, codes, laws, regulations. Utilizes various tools, machinery, vehicles, power equipment.
  • Performs general administrative tasks as required, including preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, filing records, and answering phones.
  • Participates in required training and continuing education to obtain and maintain certifications and stay current on changes in codes and ordinances.
  • Assists other officers and staff when workload, emergencies, or special assignments require.
  • Stays current on departmental policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Completes work accurately, safely, and efficiently; maintains assigned equipment in good working condition.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Identifies and reports suggested improvements or areas of concern to the Supervisor.
  • Ensures professionalism and excellent customer service in all interactions while representing the City of Greer.
  • Demonstrates strong ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability with coworkers, customers, and the community.
  • Supports a culture of results, communication, and professional collaboration within the department and across the organization.
  • Represents the department at community events or meetings when requested by the Supervisor.
  • Adheres to the Employee Handbook and all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Maintains regular, reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
