About The Position

The Public Security Safety Officer position at Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh involves providing security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion. The officer is responsible for ensuring safety and security through routine patrols, inspections, and responding to emergencies. The role requires maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor, complying with safety regulations, and performing various security-related tasks. The position is full-time, working the 2nd shift from 3 PM to 11 PM, primarily on weekends.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service.
  • Completion of the State of Illinois 20-hour Basic Security Officer course.
  • Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) within two years of appointment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.
  • Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) use within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.
  • Conducts interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and security.
  • Performs inspections to identify vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire conditions.
  • Assists team members, patients, and visitors by providing information and directions.
  • Ensures traffic control and monitors conduct of visitors.
  • Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
  • Responds to service calls involving combative or threatening individuals.
  • Plans and responds to emergencies such as lost or abducted infants/children.
  • Investigates incidents on property and completes reports.
  • Delivers security awareness education to team members.
  • Liaisons with law enforcement and first responder agencies.
  • Maintains current training standards in various security protocols.
