A Department of Public Safety Training Supervisor supports the Public Safety Leadership team as well as communicating a shared vision within areas of responsibility that motivates others to achieve operational goals and objectives. Supports and encourages productivity, teamwork, customer service, and continues quality improvement within specific areas of responsibility. The Training Sergeant coordinates and implements all training programs for DPS Officers. They will identify training needs and opportunities; complete monthly department schedule of assignments, schedule training, ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations as well as department policies and procedures and maintains training records. Perform complex technical duties that require advanced knowledge of specialization of training program coordination. This role will also be responsible for the department training simulator, creating new content, and training officers on use. The Training Sergeant will also be tasked to the Workplace violence committee and hospital de-escalation training program
