About The Position

The position is for a Security Officer at Advocate Aurora Sinai Medical Center, responsible for providing security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion. The officer will ensure safety and security by performing routine patrols, inspections, and responding to emergencies. The role requires maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor, complying with safety regulations, and assisting patients and visitors. The officer will also investigate incidents, deliver security awareness education, and liaise with law enforcement agencies.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in a security, related public safety, or customer service area.
  • Security Officer healthcare certification (CHSO) issued by IAHSS needs to be obtained within 2 years.
  • Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license issued by DOJ is required.
  • A valid driver's license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.
  • Inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members.
  • Complies with and enforces all safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Maintains Department uniform and equipment in good repair.
  • Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols.
  • Assists team members, patients, and visitors by providing information and directions.
  • Ensures traffic control and monitors conduct of visitors.
  • Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
  • Responds to service calls and serves as a primary resource for de-escalation.
  • Performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies.
  • Investigates incidents and completes timely and accurate reports.
  • Addresses and escalates complaints to the appropriate leader.
  • Performs liaison rounding duties to cultivate partnerships with departments.
  • Delivers security awareness education to team members.
  • Liaisons with state and local law enforcement and first responder agencies.
  • Coordinates, briefs, and monitors law enforcement prisoner patient guard.
  • May serve as a precept for newly hired officers.
  • Maintains current department training standards.
