About The Position

The Public Safety Officer at Rider University is responsible for providing excellent customer and community service, protecting life, and safeguarding property by enforcing university rules and regulations. This role is essential for maintaining law and order on campus and ensuring the safety of students and staff during emergencies or when the university is closed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of law enforcement, security, military, or firefighting experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within one year.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with others and under both direct and indirect supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism under pressure.
• High degree of dedication, honesty, and integrity.
• Computer literacy and ability to perform physical aspects of the job.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and overtime.

Nice To Haves

• College degree and a minimum of two years of security training with police training preferred.
• First responder or EMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer and community service assistance to students and staff.
• Protect life and safeguard property by enforcing university rules and regulations.
• Maintain law and order on campus.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in crisis situations.
• Work flexible hours, including day, evening, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Complete extra assignments or overtime on short notice.
