About The Position

We are seeking a Public Safety Officer , sometimes referred to as a Hospital Security Officer or Healthcare Security Officer . The P ublic S afety O fficer will p erform a range of security duties including electronic surveillance and routine manual patrols to ensure the safety of the facility. The Public Safety Officer will c oordinate responses to incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors while enforcing policies and procedures fairly and consistently. The Public Safety Officer will c ollaborate with the Environment of Care Committee to support a multidisciplinary approach to safety and security at our hospital . Requirements

CPR Required - within 30 days of Hire
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
State Driver’s license upon hire
Current DMV H6 report

Nice To Haves

Experience in Healthcare security or related field preferred
State Guard Certification Registration Card – TXDPS level II Non Commission - Preferred

Responsibilities

Access Control and Patrols: m onitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to deter theft, violence, or unsafe behavior
Emergency Response: r espond to emergency codes and assist with crowd control, evacuation, or containment as needed
De-escalation and Conflict Management : i ntervene in disruptive situations using de-escalation techniques to calm agitated patients or visitors, often in collaboration with clinical staff
Patient and Visitor Assistance: e scort patients or visitors safely through the facility, provide directions, and assist with lost-and-found or personal property issues
Incident Documentation: w rite detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or safety hazards and report findings to supervisors or risk management
