About The Position

We are seeking a Public Safety Officer , sometimes referred to as a Hospital Security Officer or Healthcare Security Officer . The P ublic S afety O fficer will p erform a range of security duties including electronic surveillance and routine manual patrols to ensure the safety of the facility. The Public Safety Officer will c oordinate responses to incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors while enforcing policies and procedures fairly and consistently. The Public Safety Officer will c ollaborate with the Environment of Care Committee to support a multidisciplinary approach to safety and security at our hospital . Requirements

  • CPR Required - within 30 days of Hire
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • State Driver’s license upon hire
  • Current DMV H6 report

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Healthcare security or related field preferred
  • State Guard Certification Registration Card – TXDPS level II Non Commission - Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Access Control and Patrols: m onitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to deter theft, violence, or unsafe behavior
  • Emergency Response: r espond to emergency codes and assist with crowd control, evacuation, or containment as needed
  • De-escalation and Conflict Management : i ntervene in disruptive situations using de-escalation techniques to calm agitated patients or visitors, often in collaboration with clinical staff
  • Patient and Visitor Assistance: e scort patients or visitors safely through the facility, provide directions, and assist with lost-and-found or personal property issues
  • Incident Documentation: w rite detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or safety hazards and report findings to supervisors or risk management
