  • Provides security services with a customer-service approach.
  • Inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members.
  • Complies with and enforces all safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Maintains Department uniform and equipment in good repair.
  • Provides front line shift leadership for Public Safety Officer 1 & 2.
  • Prioritizes and assigns tasks to accommodate shifting demands.
  • Confirms shift work documentation in the electronic record.
  • Reviews and approves all shift incident reports.
  • Conducts shift briefings to ensure accurate communication.
  • Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
  • Responds to service calls involving combative or threatening individuals.
  • Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation.
  • Monitors officer compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Schedules public safety staff and ensures daily work coverage.
  • Makes decisions regarding apprehension/arrest cases.
  • Rounds on internal customers to monitor satisfaction.
  • Performs key responsibilities to respond to emergencies.
  • Investigates incidents on Advocate Health property.
  • Addresses and escalates complaints to leadership.
  • Delivers security awareness education to team members.
  • Liaisons with law enforcement and first responder agencies.
  • Coordinates emergency response planning with other departments.
  • Performs initial performance coaching and participates in evaluations.
  • Serves as the primary internal trainer for the Department.
  • Prepares lesson plans for officers not meeting training expectations.
  • Assists with exterior traffic and crowd control.
  • Completes patrolling with a community-oriented approach.
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in security or public safety.
  • Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) within two years.
  • NIMS Compliance Certification.
  • Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.
  • Stop the Bleed Certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g. TASER) within 90 days.
  • Behavioral Threat Assessment knowledge.
  • Use of Force Review.
  • Crime through environmental design awareness.
  • Ability to present material and facilitate meetings.
