About The Position

Your Role: Fully trained (lethally armed) security officer position. Ensures colleagues,’ patients,’ and visitors’ safety; patrols and surveils all hospital campus areas and responds to emergencies quickly and appropriately. Displays an understanding of diversity. Demonstrates integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence (I CARE values). Enhances and contributes to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors, and patients. Patrols and surveils hospital campus; provides unarmed security. Responds to emergencies and drills (e.g., infant/child abductions (“code pinks”), fires (“code reds”), disasters (“code greens”) and violent/security events (“code greys”). Investigates thefts, burglaries, automobile collisions, and other violations. Delivers medication and emergency shipments. Assists staff members with patients. Completes required training. Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., certificate of high school equivalency.
  • Six (6) years of relevant, job-related work experience.
  • Successful completion of the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program (provided by the Supervisor/Security).
  • Class “G” Statewide Firearm License issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
  • Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) credential from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).
  • Blue Card certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
  • American Red Cross (ARC) first aid certification.
  • TASER certification from a certified instructor.
  • Handcuff certification from a certified instructor.
